New Zealand defeated Scotland by six wickets in their T20 World Cup group match in Bristol.

Scotland posted 131 for seven batting first, with Darcey Carter carrying her bat for an unbeaten 72. The hosts raced to 51 in their first seven overs before New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr took three for 17 and Sophie Devine claimed two for 19 to restrict the total.

New Zealand slumped to 26 for three early in their chase before Izzy Sharp scored 62 off 43 balls, her highest T20 international score, including eight fours and one six. Brooke Halliday finished unbeaten on 41 as the White Ferns won with 10 balls to spare.

The victory moved New Zealand's net run rate into positive territory. The defending champions now have four points from four games in Group 2 and face England on Sunday in their final group match.

New Zealand dropped two catches in the match, a recurring problem for the side in the tournament.

Kerr said the side were "really happy to keep them to that total", adding: "They got off to a flier and Carter played a good innings. But with four overs left, we pulled them back nicely. Some good stuff in the field and some stuff we can be better at. Nice to get the win."
