News that the US and Iran were stepping back from further confrontation over ceasefire negotiations helped reduce market anxiety. The greenback lost ground against most major currencies in the Group of 10.
Against the pound, the New Zealand dollar traded near 0.4250, close to multi-year lows seen last year.
