Jetstar will discontinue flights between Auckland and the Sunshine Coast and between Christchurch and Cairns from 24 October.
The airline blamed weaker-than-anticipated passenger numbers and sharply higher operating expenses, including fuel. Cost pressures include rising aviation taxes, airport fees and transport levies in both New Zealand and Australia.
Australia's Passenger Movement Charge will rise to $80, a $10 increase Jetstar expects will affect route viability from 2027. Passengers holding bookings will be moved to other flights or given refunds.
