The Ministry of Disabled People – Whaikaha has awarded $1.7 million to disability community organisations to strengthen their governance capability.
Disability Issues Minister Louise Upston announced the funding, which supports three streams: Disabled People's Organisations, Community Capability, and New Zealand Sign Language. The investment targets groups that have been historically underrepresented in decision-making.
Upston said the funding "will help grow leadership capability and strengthen governance within community organisations led by disabled people and their advocates".
