The United States military conducted strikes on multiple targets in Iran on Saturday.

US Central Command confirmed the Saturday operation, which took place 24 hours after American forces had launched strikes on Iran in retaliation for a drone attack on a commercial vessel.

Targets and scope

Saturday's operation targeted Iranian military surveillance infrastructure, communication systems, air defence sites, facilities storing unmanned aerial vehicles, and capabilities for deploying maritime mines.

Centcom described the strikes as a "direct response to continued Iranian aggression against commercial shipping".

Hormuz incident

The military action followed a drone attack on a cargo ship in the strait of Hormuz, which prompted Friday's American strikes.
