Thirteen people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Canterbury on Saturday evening, with two suffering critical injuries.
The collision between a car and a van occurred on Greendale Road in Darfield, in the Selwyn district. Police were notified of the crash shortly before 6pm.
St John deployed six ambulances and two critical-care units to the scene. Ten of the injured were transported to Christchurch Hospital for treatment.
Greendale Road remained closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted their examination of the scene. Police advised motorists to stay away from the area during the investigation.
