State Highway 1 south of Levin has reopened following a three-vehicle crash that left one person critically injured.
Emergency services were called to the crash near the Manakau North Rail Overbridge at approximately 6.25am on Friday. Three people were injured, one critically. A person who was trapped has since been freed.
The highway was closed with no diversions available, resulting in long queues. Ngāti Wehiwehi Marae opened to help stranded motorists and truck drivers.
