State Highway 3 through Awakino Gorge has been closed following an overnight land movement on 25 June.
A debris-catching barrier installed at the site successfully caught fallen material from the slip. The New Zealand Transport Agency said crews would work to clear material from behind the barrier to restore access.
A geotechnical assessment must be completed before the road can safely reopen. NZTA did not provide an estimated reopening time for the affected section. The closure followed heavy rain and gales across the North Island on 24 June.
