The TAB New Zealand Racing Advisory Committee released a report on 24 June recommending that high-risk gambling products be allowed.

The Problem Gambling Foundation criticised the recommendation, describing it as "brazen" and "quite unbelievable".

The committee's report examined issues affecting the $1.7 billion racing industry. The report identified elevated administrative costs, the lack of a peak body, difficulties in accessing capital, and declining horse numbers as problems.

The report called for urgent and major reform to save the racing industry.
