Foreign Minister Winston Peters will visit Samoa for the country's 64th Independence celebrations, departing on 31 May and returning to New Zealand on 2 June.
Peters will attend official Independence Day events on 1 June as part of Samoa's three-day celebration. He will meet with Samoan Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs La'aulialemalietoa Polataivao Fosi Schmidt, with Peters stating the visit will include discussions on the fuel crisis, New Zealand's aid programme in Samoa, and regional security.
Peters will also hold talks with Tonga's Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua and the Ulu of Tokelau, Faipule Alapati Tavite, both of whom are attending the celebrations.
Peters said New Zealand highly values its warm and close friendship with Samoa.
