A 24-year-old New Zealander arrested in Australia faces four additional charges related to violent extremist material and objectionable content.

The man was charged by Australian Federal Police in February after he landed at Perth Airport on an international flight. Border Force officers examining his baggage discovered videos on his phone showing violent killings linked to various ideologies and content about making homemade explosives.

The Western Australia Joint Counter Terrorism Team searched a Perth CBD property and seized a computer. He was initially charged with one count of possessing violent extremist material, with a distribution charge added in March.

The four new charges laid against him include two counts of transmitting violent extremist material, one count of obtaining possession of objectionable material, and one count of transmitting objectionable material. Australian authorities allege he obtained violent extremist and objectionable material and then shared it with another user online.
