More than 1 million people have received their flu vaccine ahead of winter, Health NZ has announced.
Health NZ director for prevention immunisations Nikki Canter-Burgoyne said while influenza could be a mild illness for many people, for some it could cause serious illness and hospitalisation. "The protection that the flu vaccine provides reduces the risk of complications."
Flu vaccinations are available through GPs, pharmacies and other providers across the country, including many midwives.
Health NZ has encouraged people to check they are up to date with other recommended immunisations, including Covid-19, pertussis and measles.
