Fire crews contain hazardous substance leak at Auckland port

Fire and Emergency responded to a spill on a container ship at Fergusson Wharf on Saturday morning, with crews leaving the scene after providing cleanup solutions.

Fire and Emergency has contained a leak of a hazardous substance at the Port of Auckland.

Fire crews were sent to Fergusson Wharf at approximately 9.20am on Saturday in response to the spill on the ANL Kiwi Trader container ship. Crews from Auckland City, Grey Lynn, Avondale, Balmoral, Parnell, Mount Roskill and Ōtara responded to the incident.

Fire and Emergency provided a cleanup solution and left the scene with Port of Auckland staff about 11.30am. The service said there was no risk to the public. The specific substance has not been confirmed.
