A driver has died following a collision involving one vehicle on the Taramakau Highway immediately to the north of Kumara Junction early on 26 June 2026.
Police reported the crash at approximately 5:30am, with the driver dying at the crash scene. No other occupants were in the vehicle.
One lane of the highway has been reopened to traffic. Police confirmed the driver's death in a statement released early afternoon on 26 June.
The Serious Crash Unit is examining the crash site.
