A husband and wife who led a cult have been convicted of manslaughter following a police investigation that identified human remains discovered in a bin bag and exposed the existence of the cult.

The police investigation required officers to identify the deceased person whose body had been found in the bag. The inquiry also revealed the couple's leadership of a cult organisation.

During their inquiries, police examined multiple items connected to the case, including rice bags and an object referred to as the 'Ark'.

Investigators also uncovered $2 million worth of gold bars during the course of their examination.

The manslaughter convictions followed the completion of the investigation, which involved the identification of the human remains and examination of evidence found at locations connected to the cult leaders.

The case required police to piece together evidence from multiple sources, including the physical items examined and the remains found in the bin bag, before charges could be brought against the husband and wife.

The guilty verdicts concluded the investigation that had identified both the victim and the circumstances surrounding the death.
