A young boy has died after leaving a West Auckland school bus while heading home from a special needs school on Monday.
The boy was under the age of 10, the school confirmed.
Police said they were unable to provide further information on what happened to the boy.

The West Auckland school confirmed one of their students had died after departing from a bus.
The school's principal said in a statement: "It's really sad and a hard time for the school community and the boy's family. He was a very loved young man."
The school's board and leadership had support in place for staff and students.
